Basic Training for New Judges - Calgary 2026

Special in-person session offered in conjunction with the 2026 Canadian Photography Conference, Calgary, Alberta.

  • This two-part program is normally offered as a self-paced online course followed by an online judging practice workshop but for this event, participants will have the unique opportunity to complete both components in an immersive, in-person setting over two days.

  • Designed to equip photographers with the knowledge and skills to understand and apply the judging process in photographic competitions, this comprehensive training is ideal for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of judging or take the first step toward becoming a CAPA Certified Judge.

  • Led by experienced instructors and featuring real-world case studies, the program offers a balance of practical learning and hands-on experience.

    The course length is 2-days with each days class running from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.

  • METHOD OF DELIVERY

    For this event, participants will have the unique opportunity to complete both components in an immersive, in-person setting over 2 days.

  • MAXIMUM NUMBERS

    This course is offered in conjunction with Canadian Photography Conference in person and a maximum of 30 participants can be accommodated. CONFERENCE REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE COURSE.

  • LOCATION

    The course will be held at Heritage Hall, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). The location for the Canadian Photography Conference.

  • SCHEDULING

    The course will run on July 17th & 18th from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm each day.
